The Handset Protection Program is available to any customer at any time. However, there is a 30 day waiting period to file a claim if you don’t sign up the day you purchase your new phone. Ask your GCI representative to sign up today!
Replacement coverage insures:
- Loss (Basic and Complete Coverage)
- Theft (Basic and Complete Coverage)
- Damage – Incident / Accident Related (Basic and Complete Coverage)
- Malfunction and mechanical/electrical failure ONLY when occurring outside the Manufacturer’s Warranty period. (Complete Coverage)
Replacement coverage cost:
- Basic Coverage - $5.49 per month
- Complete Coverage - $6.49 per month

Claim Limits:
- $2,000 per Named Insured or a maximum of two (2) equivalent replacements (whichever comes first,) within a 12-month period beginning with the date of the first loss.

- Claims must be reported within 60-days of an incident, if accident-related
- Claims may be filed 7 days a week from 8am-11pm EST by calling the eSecuritel Customer Care center

Disclosures:
- The customer is not entitled to receive cash instead of replacement equipment.
- Replacement equipment may be refurbished equipment or equipment of like-kind and quality comparable to that of the original handset’s make and model.
- A monthly premium will be payable in advance and will be charged to the subscriber’s regular wireless account. It appears as a separate feature item on their monthly bill.
- The per loss deductible is based on the retail price of the make and model of the wireless communications equipment insured.
- The insurance coverage period begins July 1, 2009.
- The identity of the insurer is Lincoln General. New Hampshire Insurance Company, Administrative Office: 70 Pine Street, New York, NY 10270.
- The administrator of the program is eSecuritel, PO Box 03, Alpharetta, Georgia 30009.
- The agent licensed is GCI, 2550 Denali St, Suite 1000, Anchorage, AK 99503.
- This coverage may provide a duplicate of coverage already provided by the purchaser’s personal auto insurance policy, homeowner’s insurance policy or personal liability insurance policy or other source of coverage.
- This type of coverage is NOT required in order to purchase communications equipment.
- The customer may cancel the insurance at any time.
- The insurance is not available to all DigiTel customers. Lifeline non-credit check and prepaid customers are excluded from the Insurance program.
