In February 2009, LG announced a product recall on the LG Spyder due to issues with 911 dialing. DigiTel learned of the 911 dialing issue in October 2008 soon after we launched the LG Spyder. We worked quickly and closely with LG Electronics to find the fix. Customers that purchased an LG Spyder were contacted immediately and their handset was either replaced or updated with the new software. The remaining LG Spyder handsets were re-launched with the new software that resolved the 911 dialing issue.
DigiTel’s LG Spyder is 100% compliant with the FCC for 911 dialing. All LG Spyder’s sold by DigiTel have the updated V.3 or the new V.4 software upgrade which allows customers to dial 911.
